How does Social Media Marketing relate to Emotional Intelligence?

As you already know, traditional marketing is a one-way transmission.  Thus, Emotional Intelligence rarely ever entered into the picture. 

Social Media Marketing is a two-way conversation - a budding relationship.  Thus, Emotional Intelligence is vital to its success.  I mean, who would want to converse or do business with someone who was an emotional wreck?  The more emotionally "together" you show yourself (or your client), the more attractive you/they are.

So, let me ask you a question:  what can you do in your SMM to show your Emotional Intelligence?

The question I'm getting is: What the heck is Emotional Intelligence?

It boils down to awareness - awareness of yourself and how others see you.  This is a fundamental element in basic mental health, and it's important in the type of psychology we practice.  People who are not self-aware simple don't know how other people see them.  Well, how could you possibly be effective with a prospect or target market if you don't have any idea how they are seeing you?  For that matter, how could you ever maintain a healthy personal relationship?

If you have some amount of emotional intelligence, you will have a sense of how your SMM conversations are going.  You'll know what words and statements not to say.  You'll have a sens of the other person's values.  And, you might see yourself as a facilitator, rather than just a seller of a single product.

So, how do you show your own emotional intelligence?
