Why Facebook Groups Need to be Included in Your Inbound Marketing Strategy
One thing I have learned this past year is the value of Facebook groups for my business. And I should point out, I'm not suggesting you start your own Facebook group. I'm not saying you shouldn't, either. If you have something fantastic to bring to your audience, creating your own group may make sense for you.
But what I want to focus on today is how you can simply join Facebook groups that are filled with your peers and target customers, and start building authentic relationships that will organically help you grow your business and your blog.
When it comes to inbound marketing, you have to be pretty strategic and committed to be successful. So when you're putting your plan together, add engaging in targeted Facebook groups to your daily task list.
How Can Facebook Groups Grow Your Business?
Facebook groups have exploded and there are countless clusters of people spending time together in these groups.
For example, my target clients are entrepreneurs. I can dig deeper into my own customer profile and also say that my ideal clients are most often female entrepreneurs with established online businesses. They're a few years in and have reached the point where they're struggling to do everything alone. They're ready to invest in getting the right help, if it will allow them to both grow their business and have some time back.
Most of the business Facebook groups online have a purpose. They're a place for like-minded people to connect, network, and help one another. Most have strict no-promo policies and numerous rules and guidelines to ensure people aren't using these groups to spam other members. Some have weekly schedules with prompts from admin where you get the opportunity to post your links and specials.
But for the most part, these groups are about helping and supporting each other. Asking questions, getting opinions, sharing stories and reminding us that although we spend most days alone behind our screens, we are in fact part of a community.
The trick to using these groups to grow your business is to be present, give value, and be authentic.
Being present: if you're going to get noticed and have any real chance of making connections, you need to be present in your groups. Don't join 35 groups. Find a manageable number, maybe 3 or 4, and make those your priority. Check-in daily and get to know the schedules so you don't miss the promotional opportunities. For example, people often use these groups when looking for a VA or web designer.
Give value: being a member of these groups is all about bringing value. Answer questions, start discussions, and bring a positive vibe and influence to the group. Whenever the opportunity presents itself, show you're an expert in your field by answering questions and giving advice that others are seeking out.
Be authentic: if you're going to create real relationships, you've got to be real and genuine. Be present and provide value because you want to, not because you have to. Don't join groups to sell your products and services. Join them to become part of a community, and the relationships that grow organically will be where the business opportunities come from.
